Broken Edge in Chaotic Life
The term ‘edge of chaos’ defined a hypothetical mathematical transitional space between order and disorder. To have a 'broken edge' in this space reminds us that humanity is forever spinning between both order and disorder. Free will versus the dictates of conscience is one example! We are not always the captains of our soul and masters of our fate! In 1893, in the city of Preston, UK Where my brother live ,Francis Thompson wrote a poem 'The Hound of Heaven'.Thompson moved from drug addiction to better life and then addiction again. Here is the key line from his Hound of Heaven which reflects his broken edge: ' I fled him, down the nights and down the day' Thompson was speaking about God pursuing Thompson's soul like a hound in pursuit of its prey' Shakespeare touched on another angle for the edge of chaos in life too.In Macbeth, there is a glorious line: "Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying NOTHING! The broken edge of chaos Darkness!
