The Little Things That Meant So Much

Details: A little is a lot! Stories about rags to riches always have four common themes.

1. A single-minded determination to move from one poor state to a much greater one.

2. An ability to never give up!

3. A capacity to build on what love exists and pull it towards you

4. Appreciation and gratitude for the skills you have with a focus on how to develop many more

And then to SPRING from there!

Why the spring in my painting? Is it trying to depict a connection or bridge between one world and another? Not quite. The two states represent something different although the common satellites are the two global hearts. But even here there are differences. One heart is almost detached or invisible and small. The other is linked or visible. Notice that the heart in the background is considerably smaller than the second which also overshadows both the two states. It is this heart of love and optimism that has literally sprung from the journey of life between the two states. And this is by design. If you look carefully at the larger state in the foreground you will see a tiny link between it and the larger heart. Both are in the bright clear golden light. This is how the spring connects like a bridge. The connection between the smaller heart and the distant world is almost invisible. Both are spinning alone, looks like detached in darkness!

"Hope springs eternal in every human breast" is a famous phrase from Alexander Pope's poem "Essay on Man". It was quoted by Robert Burns and Charles Dickens as well as other writers. It is human nature always to find fresh cause for optimism. And so, my painting of two worlds or two states attempts to bring these words to life! The stark difference between hope and despair.

One world in my painting tries to capture the worst of times. The other captures the best of times. A state of wisdom. A state of foolishness. A world of belief. A world of disbelief. A season of light. A season of darkness. A spring of hope. A winter of despair. Man has everything before him in one state. Nothing before him in the other.

There are so many rags to riches stories. The story of a shy Ronaldo begging for burgers in Portugal is a shining example and the lady who provided him a fresh burger was a star for him for that moment. And what is noticeable is that when he acquired success, he went in search of those who( the lady) had been kind to him. His globes of love link together in the hope that those he helps will also spring into a golden state! Thank you so much.
